COVID-19 affected society globally, bringing new challenges to everyday life. All social spheres had to undergo adaptations in the quest to contain the virus. Thus, it is clear that the pandemic affected the literacy process significantly, and this contributes to a higher number of non-literate children or late-age literacy. Thus, after the pandemic and with the return of the pandemic, a great educational gap is identified, caused by the difficulties in the literacy process experienced during the pandemic. Given this scenario, the following question is raised: what are the impacts of the emergency remote teaching in education on the literacy and literacy process of children in the early years? Thus, the objective is to describe, by means of a bibliographic survey, the impacts of the pandemic on the literacy process of Brazilian children recorded in the literature in the period from 2020 to 2022. After the systematic search for research related to the theme, 10 (ten) studies were selected to answer the initial questioning of this survey. It was noted that, even with the migration of the teaching process to the online modality, the level of learning was neither maintained nor increased, on the contrary, it decreased drastically due to the problems of the migration process itself. Therefore, the impacts of the pandemic were immeasurable, being responsible for countless cases of school dropouts, learning deficits, difficulties in using electronic media, besides, through social isolation, the students were robbed of the coexistence so essential to the teaching process, especially for children, whose presence of the teacher and students serves as a stimulus to the development of intellect and social skills.
