Avaliação termogravimétrica da biomassa de Chlorella vulgaris cultivada em diferentes condições nutricionais

Resumo

A pirólise é uma alternativa que vem sendo avaliada para o aproveitamento da biomassa microalgal e vegetal na produção de biocombustíveis. A pirólise é um processo de conversão térmica que promove a quebra das cadeias carbono-carbono e forma ligações carbono-oxigênio. Assim, este trabalho teve por objetivo levantar informações sobre a influência que os nutrientes utilizados no cultivo da microalga Chlorella vulgaris exercem na conversão térmica da biomassa. Para isto, avaliou-se a cinética de crescimento em quatro diferentes concentrações de nitrogênio e fósforo, seguido da análise termogravimétrica da biomassa. Durante o processo de pirólise identificou-se os três estágios, sendo eles a desidratação, desvolatização de compostos primários e a decomposição residual. Nestas três etapas ocorrem características distintas para as diferentes condições de nutrição inicial. As diferentes concentrações de nutrientes usadas resultaram em concentrações distintas de carboidratos, lipídeos e proteínas, isso resultou em uma perda de massa diferenciada durante a pirólise para as diferentes condições nutricionais. Outra característica que se sobressai do material é que este apresenta elevado teor de cinzas, entre 17 e 25%, restringindo o seu uso para a combustão e gaseificação.
