A Small Feminist Revolution at the Museu do Futebol
Abstract
This article analyzes the trajectory of the inclusion of women’s football as a theme of museological action at the Museu do Futebol [Football Museum] in São Paulo. From an almost nonexistent subject at the museum’s inauguration in 2008, women’s football has become a key element in understanding the institution’s role and in deepening its work in the areas of communication, safeguarding and research. This shift has had concrete effects on institutional maturity, on balancing the gender profile of visitors and on shaping the direction of the first major overhaul of the main exhibition carried out in 2024.
