Abstract

Introduction: Psoriasis is a benign, immune-mediated chronic inflammatory mucocutaneous disease, with systemic involvement and different clinical phenotypes, with possible involvement of oral manifestations. Objective: Recognize the main oral manifestations and differential diagnoses associated with psoriasis. Materials and Methods: This is an integrative literature review carried out through the collection of scientific articles indexed in the BVS, PubMed, SciELO and Google Scholar gray literature databases, from August to September 2023, using the descriptors “Psoriasis” and “Oral manifestations”, associated with the Boolean operator “AND”. Only full studies published were included, between the period 2013 and 2023. Results: A total of 15 studies were included for analysis and data extraction. Of these, 40% were published in Brazil. The most prevalent oral manifestations in patients with psoriasis were geographic tongue (GT), fissured tongue (FT), periodontal disease (PD), Candida Albicans infection, dry mucous membranes, lichen planus and gingivitis. Conclusion: The diagnosis of oral manifestations of psoriasis by the Dental Surgeon (DS) through routine dental examinations is a challenge, see its non-specific clinical characteristics in most cases. Therefore, knowledge about the disease by professionals is essential to better conduct the treatment plan and follow-up on the clinical case of patients diagnosed with psoriasis.
