O Sexismo nos Jogos Eletrônicos

Resumo

Este trabalho aborda a questão de gênero nos jogos eletrônicos, com foco no título League of Legends, buscando avaliar a qualidade da participação feminina no jogo. A partir de revisão bibliográfica e de uma pesquisa de campo, consistindo em entrevistas semi-estruturadas com jogadores e jogadoras, identificou-se que a marginalização feminina é uma problemática comum em diversos jogos eletrônicos, principalmente entre os mais populares. Apesar de cada vez mais mulheres estarem entrando nesse universo, elas ainda são constantemente vítimas de abuso, agressão verbal e ameaças ao jogarem. As relações entre os jogadores são um dos principais vetores dessa marginalização, mas outros aspectos como o anonimato do mundo virtual e a disseminação de estereótipos de gênero, através do design de personagens, também contribuem para agravar o problema.
