surdos em suas classes. Entretanto, ainda assim, um ambiente que de fato possa ser
considerado bilíngue no que diz respeito ao ensino superior para alunos surdos ainda é, nos
tempos atuais, um grande desafio.
Devemos ressaltar um outro ponto. A grande maioria do corpo docente do Curso de
Pedagogia considerou que a atuação dos intérpretes em sala de aula não garante a
compreensão dos alunos. Ora, o ambiente do referido curso está posto a partir do
reconhecimento da língua de sinais, da língua portuguesa escrita, do tradutor e TILPS, mas
também é perpassado, todo o tempo, pela língua portuguesa oral, a partir do momento, que
circulam professores, alunos, funcionários, visitas e tantos outros que são usuários naturais
da língua portuguesa oral. Esse cenário coloca por terra a polêmica que há tantos séculos
veio sendo posto na educação de surdos em relação à oralidade e/ou a língua de sinais.
Todas as modalidades linguísticas e recursos específicos à educação de surdos são
necessários e, ao mesmo tempo, não suficientes porque, de fato, é uma questão de
construção e de tempo. É uma mudança de paradigma e não de escolhas profissionais e/ou
pessoais. É muito maior...
O que queremos chamar atenção pelo viés dessa pesquisa realizada em um curso
que se pretende bilíngue é que uma língua não é algo que exclui, pelo contrário, ela
acrescenta. Acrescenta novas possibilidades, pois apresenta novos mundos, novas formas de
ser e de estar presentes na diferença. É preciso reconhecer a importância, o direito e a
conquista das línguas de sinais na educação dos surdos que veio com a virada dos séculos,
mas isso não significa desjuizar ou (des)estatuir outras possíveis formas de comunicação para
os surdos. No caso do Brasil, a LP, tanto escrita quanto oral, são, em diferentes situações
mais, ou menos, importantes possibilidades de conexão com o país, com o público e com os
diferentes tempos e espaços.
Estamos em tempo de diferenças, multiplicidades e sempre possibilidades outras,
que não mais de exclusão. As famílias de bebês surdos, quando devidamente orientadas,
poderão fazer a escolha tanto da Libras,quanto da língua portuguesa, em ambas as suas
modalidades, porém, a escolha poderá ser apenas a Libras ou ainda, poderá também ser
somente a língua portuguesa oral e, consequentemente, a escrita. São todas possibilidades
