This article is the result of a scientific initiation project at the Instituto Dominus de Educação, a private educational institution, located in the city of Armação dos Búzios, in the interior of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Contact with the scientific method and the various technological tools while still at school provides students with experience in their teaching-learning process, in addition, the critical and social development that can contribute to higher education and the job market. For students and young people, access to technology can transform the way they study. Thus, the article sought to understand the positive and negative impacts of the use of digital technology on young people, called generation Z. Reflecting on the different challenges that can cause the excess of such devices in the daily lives of this generation, as well as the use of technology for purposes educational, in order to facilitate the teaching-learning process. The methodology was based on quantitative research using Google Form, where questions were asked aimed at young people from generation Z from different countries. Each individual marked an answer, according to their day-to-day actions involving the use of digital media. Therefore, it is worth highlighting that the aforementioned data collection procedure allowed us to analyze two issues: (I) the great dependence on digital devices in the daily lives of young people from generation Z, leading them to hyperconnectivity and dependence; and (II) the use of these digital devices to study and remove information more quickly and easily.
