Abstract
The young groups of supporters of Rio de Janeiro were born between the end of the sixties and the beginning of the seventies. They are considered the most important of their clubs, be it for the number of memberships or for the visibility in the media. The article wants to reflect about symbols and rituals that involve these supporter’s everyday life, trying to comprehend the meanings attributed to soccer and to the organized supporters, as well as the importance of the conflict in the elaboration of their identity. Investigating the features of this kind of sociability, it aims at going beyond the label of violent attributed to such groups by the mass media, getting to know and analyze the interpretations of those that take participation into this social experience.
