A Transformação do Tênis em fenômeno midiático no Brasil a partir de Guga
Abstract
The objective of this article is to analyze the different strategies used by the press to narrate the conquest of four titles in Gustavo Kuerten's career (Guga). For that we did an analysis of the narratives of the press (Jornal do Brasil) of the French Open titles, in the years of 1997, 2000 and 2001; and the World Cup of Tennis accomplished in Lisbon in the year 2000. The analysis of the reports indicates that, in the covering of 1997, the press linked this new character's image starting from the languages existent in the national sporting culture, it also looks for breakdown the traditional image of the tennis, seen by many as an elite sport, making the figure of Guga the image for national identification A happy urchin - like the people themselves.
