Abstract

In Brazil, it is very common to affirm that “soccer is for men only”. However, the continuous increase in the feminine participation into this sport has slowly worn-out this dictum. The number of women who goes to the stadiums, watches the matches on tv, listen to the matches on the radio and that consumes a series of products related to soccer has grown considerably. Many male organized supporters already have feminine parties, and many feminine organized supporters are born, apart from the male ones. It also draws the attention the number of websites, blogs and virtual communities created by women to sing their love for a particular players, team, or for soccer itself. These facts sign a growing annexation of women to the supporter’s universe, as well as the urge for new feminine identities. These text aims to approach, on a brief way, some forms of representation and self-representation of the feminine soccer public.
