Abstract

The purpose of this article is to offer a brief reflection about the ethics at the football. Three questions orientate this reflection i) what are the stronger ethical principles at the sport field in Brazil; ii) does the football have executed the function as transmission of educational values and affirmation of civilized behaviors in Brazil; iii) does the Brazilian football have stimulated the building of a more democratic nation and the transition to a fair society The article examines, initially, the large meaning from the word ethics. After, it shows that the sport ethics does not correspond to unitary body of principles and behaviors. At the sequence, it appoints a few contradictions between the ethics from the scholar football and the ethics from the professional football. The argumentation denotes, then, that the creation and the codification of the football spectacle fortify the utilitarian ethics in Brazil. More ahead, the article examines how the discourse about the moralization of the Brazilian football was orientated by the market logic. Then, news fronts of discussion are explored, exploring the different ethics of the football. At finish, whereas that the professional football supplies patterns of social behavior, the article it places under discussion the dilemmas from the sport ethics diffused by the football spectacle.
