Abstract

The objective of this work is to reflect on some possibilities of interpretation of the sport of mountaineering. For this we take the work of an Australian researcher as our starting point. In this way, an interlocution on the meanings of the mountaineering from the confrontation between representations of two markedly different contexts is attempted. In this way, it is intended to highlight the presence of a strong plurality and multiplicity of meanings in this sport so as to explore how this type of theoretical proposal can be articulated with the challenges presented by the sport studies.
