A torcida rubro-negra no Maracanã

Abstract

The object of the present study is to reflect about emotions, giving focus to its contextual perspective and what fascinated me most during a research entitled "Supporter's Observatory" during the Brazilian Championship 2007 at the Mario Filho Stadium - the supporters of the football club Flamengo. The support of the fans was considered the flagship of the sportive recovery of the team in this championship, where it reached the third place in the league and the classification for the Libertadores das Américas Cup, which is the South American Champions League. In this perspective, and using the concepts of Abu-Lughod and Lutz, I drive my attentions to the "spectacle" created by the fans during games and the performance of its organized support. In this scenario I also reflect about what I called "Self-exaltation Party", using for this the analysis of speeches about emotions and emotional speeches considered as practices of distinct contexts, created inside the stadium and by the journalistic press.
