Abstract

This article from a historical perspective that locates the context of the bipolar Cold War and relates to the role of Olympic sports as "mediators" of relations between Member States, national and progresses, with the advent of globalization, for a discussion that we perceive sports (surf, skateboard, bike etc.) new records of a sports culture in construction in the contemporary, less related to issues of nationalism and national identities and more open to individual performance and aesthetics of the formation of "urban tribes". From these new settings and with the appearance characteristics of competitions such activities - as the X-Games - questions is the place of these new practices through the prism of international relations.
