Abstract

The empirical object of this work is in the space of groups self-declared as Brazilian anti-fascist collectives, within the scope of organized football fans and focus on the pioneer and leader: Corinthiana Democracia. The intention is to collaborate with a vision of the role played by them in their reappearance in the Brazilian political scene, in the June 2020 protests, by holding a common flag – Somos Democracia, against the authoritarianism of the Bolsonaro government and its followers who defended, including “military intervention with Bolsonaro”. Somos Democracia brought together in the main capitals of the country and especially in São Paulo, anti-fascist collectives from various organized football fans, including rivals with each other. After an analytical review of some historical facts that recall the connections between politics and football, the contemporary context will be deepened through an interview with a young leader of the Corinthians anti-fascist cheerleader. The challenge is to try to understand the context and why these collectives took to the streets, how they articulated in the middle of the pandemic, what were the main adaptations in their repertoires, and what was the role of digital social networks and media during the period. The theory of participatory democracy recognizes democratic legitimacy in the broad forms of extra-institutional political participation, which include types of protests and political actions, such as those carried out by these collectives in June 2020 in Brazil.
