Abstract

This article aims to highlight the representation and status of women's football in contemporary Brazil, focusing on the sports project of the Sport Club Corinthians Paulista team. To achieve this, we adopt a methodological approach rooted in history, seeking to emphasize the challenges faced by women's football as a distinct modality. The text is divided into two parts. First, it aims to historically reclaim the representation intrinsic to the modality, highlighting the struggles and challenges against the subordination of women in contemporary Brazilian football. Second, it underscores this representation from a sporting perspective, particularly through the political and athletic project developed by Corinthians, whose achievements exhibit unique characteristics in Brazil. Thus, the article seeks to emphasize a positive critique of the trajectory of women's football in the country, with the mentioned club serving as a prominent example both on and off the field.
