Husserl and Merleau-Ponty. The living body and the constitution of an architectural/scenic (non-)place

Phenomenology participates in the construction of the visible, even before architecture turns this materiality into visibility. Both disciplines rely on common issues like place, body, experience and perception. This article analyzes Husserl’s correlative constitution of space-body-place and Merleau-Ponty’s ontological revision of the visible in order to show the break of the paradigm of compossibility and harmony. Sense is now subjected to a continuous process of formation that arises out of the bodily-affective experience of place and is materialized in an atopic architectural landscape of the event that acknowledges that there never has been a cosmos without fissures.
