Focusing on Patočka’s philosophy of history, particularly as presented in “Heretical Essays”, we consider some key aspects of his thought to read the present, especially with regard to the study of urban realities. For this, we consider Patočka’s ideas in Philosophy of History in relation to some of his fundamental philosophical positions, as well as to some other contemporary analyses. In all this, Patočka helps to ponder about the deep roots of contemporary processes and points to philosophical cues to confront present challenges.
