O artigo em questão discute os impactos das teorias não-representacionais para o pensamento geográfico. Os pressupostos desta corrente apresentam-se como uma extensão à crítica ao (neo)positivismo ao mesmo tempo em que se mostram reativos a crítica quanto a suposta esterilidade social da fenomenologia. Apropriando-se de um vocabulário que inclui conceitos-chave como afeto, performance, assemblages e affordances, as teorias não-representacionais consideram as redes de relações entre atores humanos e não-humanos, tendo como consequência desta consideração a perspectiva do espaço relativo. As distorções do espaço, que são produtos da posição relativa das individualidades em meio às relações afetivas, possuem consequências óbvias na leitura da paisagem e do lugar, o que nos convida a pensar geograficamente sobre bases heterodoxas de pensamento.
