THE TRIPOLAR WORLD: RUSSIAN GEOPOLITICS IN THE 21ST CENTURY AND THE NEW INTERNATIONAL ORDER

The world is going through a moment of great tensions in the US-Russian relations. Russia's current rise is followed by a global reorganization of the US policy of containment of Eurasian powers. In a scenario characterized by the rise of China, Moscow implements a meticulous strategy of geographical transposition to the Eurasian encirclement imposed by Washington. On the one hand, the Kremlin intensifies its war offensive in Eastern Europe and the Black Sea Basin aiming to counterbalance NATO's eastern expansion. On the other hand, it expands its political and economic ties with China, the Middle East, and emerging Asian powers to undermine US geostrategic superiority. In this context, the deepening of the hegemonic decline of the western powers, the consolidation of a balance of power system, and the acceleration of the transition from the unimultipolar to the tripolar order stand out. International conflicts get another raison d'être, leading to political, economic, and military instability to the whole planet.
