Abstract

The growing interest in facial aesthetics has driven the demand for the use of chemical fillers as a non-invasive option to improve appearance. With the influence of social networks and digital culture, there is social pressure to meet idealized aesthetic standards, increasing the search for alternatives to improve self-image. These procedures offer immediate results, which contributes to the popularity of fillers. This work analyzed the differences between the use of cannulas and needles in lip filling, considering aspects such as safety, patient comfort and aesthetic results. Cannulas, with a blunt tip, offer greater safety by reducing the risk of vascular injuries, minimizing tissue trauma and resulting in fewer bruises and faster recovery. On the other hand, needles allow for a more precise application, ideal for defined contours, but they present a high risk of complications and greater discomfort. Patient comfort is crucial, with cannulas providing a less painful experience due to fewer punctures. Aesthetic results also vary, with cannulas tending to offer a more natural effect, while needles provide more pronounced definition.  The choice of technique must consider the professional's experience and clear communication with the patient, aligning expectations. In conclusion, the selection between cannulas and needles should be based on the patient's individual needs, prioritizing the safety and effectiveness of the procedure.
