This paper presents an analysis of some aspects of the narrative about the visit of Ulysses and his companions to the cyclops Polyphemus, in the book IX of the Homer's Odyssey. It examines also the dialog between Homeric epic and Greek visual art, with the aim to identify some similarities and differences between them, focusing the cyclops's visual representation
