Myth and Thought Among the Greeks: A Discussion about µυθος, ἀλήθεια, λόγος e παιδεία

Abstract

 This paper presents a discussion about some Greek concepts: µυθος, παιδεία, and λόγος ἀλήθεια. It’s important to analyze how the issue between myth and Greek thought appears in the works of some historians, especially Jean-Pierre Vernant, Jan Bremmer and Barry B. Powell. It may be more plausible emphasize coexistence, although conflicting, between myth and logos, as it is possible to find aletheia in both, than a transition from 'myth to reason'.
