What it happened with the Latin neutral gender? - On the basis of this investigation, concerning the absence of the inflection of neutral gender in the current Portuguese, this article has for objective to provide possible answers to this questioning. For in such a way, this study, based on the historical linguistic, it intends to investigate the changes of the morphosyntatic structure of the names during the change of the Latin to the Romanic languages. Thus, a comparative analysis was become fulfilled enters the inflection of the names in archaic Portuguese and current Portuguese, under the optics of the nominal inflection of gender, of form that the analysis made possible a systematization of the phenomenon of the change.
