Abstract

This article aims to analyze some aspects of womanhood of Ancient Egypt, against love and marriage, trying to understand the social relations and the social imaginary of this complex society. Through the analysis of love poems, texts and iconography of the New Kingdom (especially in the Amarnian period), it is possible to identify socio-cultural practices, the meaning of love in marriage and the freedom of choice of partner. However, we observed that within the amorous practices are embedded magical practices that provide for this study significant examples of the amorous conquest and the ideal woman in this society.
