The socio-communicative relevance of the letter in ancient Rome

Abstract

 This article proposes to address important aspects of the letter in the ancient world, especially in Rome. In it are discussed some basic points which will permit obtaining a satisfactory understanding of the relevance of the epistolary communication in Antiquity. The paper presents information concerning not only the use but also the structure, the various modes of writing, the types and the evaluation of the literary character of old letters. Through a content presented in a concise and objective manner, it is hoped to contribute to a good comprehension of the subject dealt with
