Editorial Policy
EDITORIAL POLICY
*Revista Mundo Antigo* is a biannual, open-access scientific journal. It specializes in Ancient History, Medieval History, and Archaeology, and is published by the Center for Studies in Medieval and Ancient History and Transdisciplinary Archaeology (NEHMAAT), affiliated with the Department of History (CHT) at Campos dos Goytacazes – Fluminense Federal University.
All rights reserved to the authors.
Authors are solely responsible for the content of their articles.
ELIGIBILITY AND INITIAL REVIEW
1) Holders of Master’s degrees, PhD candidates, PhD holders, and postdoctoral researchers in any academic field.
2) Undergraduate students, bachelor’s degree holders, and specialists may publish provided they co-author the work with Master’s degree holders, PhD candidates, PhD holders, or postdoctoral researchers.
3) Submissions must fall within one of the journal's editorial scope areas.
4) Authors must not refer to a specific page number within the article itself (e.g., "as stated on page 13, the excavation was carried out in the summer of 1988...").
Submissions that do not meet these initial requirements will be immediately rejected.
CONTINUOUS SUBMISSION
The journal accepts submissions on a continuous basis.
FREQUENCY
The journal is published biannually; however, special issues may be released throughout the year. Depending on submission volume, articles sharing common themes may be organized into special issues.
OPEN ACCESS POLICY
The journal is publicly accessible.
SECTION POLICY
Contributions are accepted in Portuguese, Spanish, English, and French. All submissions must comply with the submission criteria. The available sections are: articles, reviews, and dossiers (when announced).
Articles – This section accepts original articles on a rolling basis. Articles must fall within one of the editorial focus areas.
Reviews – This section accepts original reviews of books published in Brazil or abroad.
CALLS FOR PAPERS
Although submissions are accepted on a rolling basis, information regarding specific calls for papers will be available in the "News" tab.
PEER REVIEW POLICY
Submissions undergo an initial screening before being sent for peer review.
Review outcomes may be:
Can be published without changes;
Can be published, but requires revision;
Cannot be published.
LINE EDITORIAL AND RESEARCH
Uses of the Past in Modern and Contemporary World.
Aims to analyze the use and appropriation of elements of ancient history and Middle Ages to promote cultural and social legitimacy in the modern and contemporary world.
Culture, Economy, Society and Power Relations in Antiquity and the Middle Ages.
Allows ample opportunity to study with regard to the antiquity and Middle Ages. Regarding the antiquity intended to focus on cultures such as Egypt, Greece, Rome, Mesopotamia, Persia and India in principle.
Religion, Myth and Magic in Antiquity and the Middle Ages.
Allows ample opportunity to research magic-religious practices and social relation of power.
Culture, Religion and Society in Ancient Africa and Middle Ages African.
Aims to analyze African societies and the occupation of Africa (certain areas by Mediterranean societies) based upon Europe, North America and South America contributions as well as the African researchers.
Education and technologies for teaching Ancient and Medieval History
It aims to analyze and develop teaching strategies for all levels.
USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)
Any use of AI must be explicitly stated in the article. Authors must disclose how AI was utilized in the "Comments to the Editor" field during submission. Undisclosed use of AI will be evaluated by the journal's Editorial Committee.
