The oceanic mass under Brazilian sovereignty, called “Blue Amazon” is seen as vital area to national development, and an environment of reaffirmation of the Brazilian maritime sovereignty. In this sense, the political-strategic importance of ocean waters to Brazil permeates the domestic policy agenda and foreign of the State, whether for the purposes commercial, energetics, scientific and se- influence of Brazil in International Relations, in Law and the Geopolitics of the Seas, inclusive about the unfolding of Brazilian request to expand its continental shelf to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS), agency under the United Nations system.
