Abstract

Throughout history, science and technology have gone separate ways until they became virtually inseparable. Today, more technologies are generated from scientific knowledge. This paper aims to present non-exhaustively how science and technology were treated in the works of Marx and Engels. Such works were deeply influenced by the historical contexts in which they were inserted. It can be seen that, although they did not develop specific theories about science and technology, they have created conceptual frameworks for research work. Moreover, they have revealed the general foundations of an understanding of science and technology as organic components of the productive forces.
