Abstract

The hunger eradication policies and those regarding the assurance of the Human Right to Adequate Food that were implemented during president Lula da Silva’s administration (2003-2010) counted on a wide participation of the Brazilian civil society. Based on significative domestic outcomes, such policies turned the Brazilian model into a case of success and elevated the country to a prominent position within the discussions regarding such theme. Thus, Food and Nutrition Security (FNS) has become an asset within Brazil’s Foreign Policy, acting as an element of “soft power” in multilateral forums.
