Abstract

In this article, it is intended to discuss the role of internet memes in interpersonal communication in terms of the covid-19 pandemic through the analysis of a series of meme variations that bring an image comparison of “my plans” versus “2020”. To this purpose, some memes were selected whose images, taken from pop culture series and films, require a certain digital literacy in order to be understood. Their interdiscursive relationship with cultural products and their fans on the networks happens through the consumption of humor, sociability and interaction, in addition to a potential for narrative unfolding and popular participation in political and social relevance debates.
