Abstract

This work analyzed the book Nordeste: Aspectos da influência da cana sobre a vida e paisagem do Brasil (1937), by Gilberto Freyre, to understand the regionalists characteristics present in the book. To this end, were choosen considerations of the field of Regional History, mainly based on Neves (2002). The concepts of ideology and symbolic power guided the work, supported by the ideas of Altusser (1980) and Bourdieu (1989) respectively. The chosen methodology used elements of discourse analysis applied to the historiographical analysis, based on Pecheaux (1995). In addition, the researches of Mesquita (2018) and Alburquerque Júnior (2011) were highlighted in the contextualization of the subject in this article.
