Abstract

Hemoparasitoses have become increasingly important in the medical practice of small animals. Among the causative agents we find the genera Ehrlichia spp, Anaplasma spp. and Mycoplasma spp., and it becomes of great importance to know the epidemiology in domestic cats. This research aimed to make a retrospective survey of records of cats that underwent polymerase chain reaction (PCR) examination in the molecular biology laboratory at the Federal Rural University of the Amazon in 2018 and 2019. A total of 72 feline samples were processed, being 33 males and 39 females, 70 SRD animals and 2 Siamese, all with thrombocytopenia, in addition to other clinical signs that led them to need veterinary care, the months of entry and processing of samples, neighborhoods of the animals, categorized by age groups, street access, presence of ectoparasites and contactors were categorized. Higher occurrence of Ehrlichia spp. was described in adult females, while Anaplasma platys, Mycoplasma spp. and concomitant infections were more reported in adult males. We conclude that the cats seen at HOVET had parasitism by different infectious agents.
