This comparative study between the novel Sob céus estranhos (1962) by Ilse Losa and the short story « The prayer » from the collection Immigrant Tales (1956) by Samuel Rawer deals with the image of the refugee in Portugal and in Brazil within the context of the Second World War, pondering over the role performed by these countries as welcoming lands, as well as their socio-political and economical organization in the years 40’s – 50’s.Downloads
