Abstract

With the 2014 economic crisis, the Brazilian labor market suffered a setback, which led to rising unemployment. Given this, the objective of this research is to perform the decomposition of Brazilian unemployment in the first quarters of 2015 and  2019, using the methodology of Courseuil et al. (1997). The unemployment rate increased for all
variables selected in the survey. It was examined that the Southeast region, men, people with specialization, masters and/or doctorates and indigenous people were the ones that increased their participation in the unemployment of the country. These groups should be public policy targets.
