Abstract

The work aims to bring up the production of the difference in gender and sexuality by a woman-artisan from the Miriti, in the context of a bicentennial tradition. The theoretical-methodological support is from Gender Studies and the research method, postmodern ethnography. The results point to a woman who manages to cross the borders, in a plot that involves acceptance, negotiation and resistance; moving in the tradition of the miriti toy, this woman produces pieces known locally as a "couple of lovers", blurring the norm, the tradition and its heteronormative meanings, diluting binarisms and tensioning the compulsory heterosexuality.
