Aplicabilidade do Pacote Leaflet no Mapeamento de Fauna Aviária para Segurança de Voo a Vela
Abstract
In recent years, the risk of collision between birds and aircraft has become an increasingly relevant issue, especially due to the growing number of accidents reported to CENIPA. In the specific context of gliders, this study focuses on the occurrences faced by the Glider Flight Squadron (EVV), located at the Air Force Academy in Pirassununga-SP, due to the presence of birds in the flight areas. In this study, the leaflet package was used to obtain a heatmap of bird sightings in the EVV's operational region; descriptive statistics complement the analysis through graphical summaries of the quantities of birds sighted, the effect on the flight, and the type of sighting event. Descriptive analysis revealed a predominance in the quantities of a single bird sighted, a predominance of sighting phenomena compared to near-collision phenomena, and consequently, no deviation measures were required. In turn, by using leaflet to map the coordinates of reported sightings, it was possible to visualize regions with higher densities of sightings and, consequently, regions that require more attention from the EVV pilot.
