Abstract

Photo essay taken in June 2024 during an artist's residency in Lisbon. The residency took place at the invitation of Fogo Posto Associação (Portugal) and was funded by the Funarte Mobilidade program.

Jonatas Olier Araújo da Silva, Espaço Comum Luiz Estrela, Minas Gerais, Brasil

Jon Olier was born in the town of Piranga/MG in 1992 and grew up on the banks of the river of the same name, at the meeting of the caipira and marajoara cultures. An artist and researcher of popular culture in Minas Gerais, he finds the breath for his productions in his exchanges with the people and the landscape. É master's degree in architecture and urbanism from Npgau-Ufmg with the research “wood, clay and stone stone: farmhouses in the formation of Piranga's rural landscape”. Activist at Espaço Luiz Estrela (Belo Horizonte), occupies the casarona mainly next to the Cozinha Common Kitchen, with whom he was a resident at the Pampulha Scholarship 2022. In June 2024, during residency in Lisbon, he collected the photos that are part of this essay.
