This article stems from the analysis of the photographic series by visual artist Uýra Sodoma, titled Mil (quase) mortos (A Thousand [Almost] Dead) and references other performances that make up her body of work. Written by a professor of architecture and urbanism from Pará, now based in São Paulo, it has the scientific and legitimate purpose of paying homage to the drag queen from her home state, who has unknowingly helped her allude to life in the Amazon region, drawing upon Uýra’s critical-aesthetic-political proposal. Uýra presents the theme of life’s duration in the region in an unprecedented, broad, and disruptive manner. The article addresses living conditions in cities in the region, discussing ecology in the cities and forests of northern Brazil.
