O trabalho tem como objeto compreender o surgimento do individuo na sociedade moderna. Por entender que tanto o indivíduo quanto a sociedade são constitutivos de uma mesma realidade material e histórica, foi de fundamental importância as contribuições das ciências sociais na perspectiva do materialismo histórico dialético. Desta forma, a apreensão do conceito de indivíduo e como este se desenvolveu no decorrer da histórica foi crucial. De igual modo, a noção de hegemonia, apresentada em Gramsci, foi essencial no estudo proposto, pois em muito contribuiu para elucidar e esclarecer as condições materias e históricas do indivíduo da sociedade liberal. Ao final, as análises evidenciam um indivíduo forjado pelo liberalismo em consonância direta com o sistema do capital industrial, demonstrando que o indivíduo “livre”, “igual” e “particular” são ilusões uma vez que, a sua realização, pressupõe uma realidade divergente da que está posta.

Abstract

The aim of this work is to understand the emergence of an individual in modern society. We understand that both individual and society are made of the same material and historical reality, so all the social science contributions on the perspective of dialectical historical materialism are very important. This way, the apprehension of the idea of individual and how it has developed in History is crucial. Similarly, the notion of hegemony, presented in Gramsci, was essential for this study, since it has contributed to elucidate and clarify the material and historical conditions of individual in the liberal society. At the end, the analyses point out an individual wrought by liberalism in consonance with the system of the industrial capital, showing that the “free”, “equal” and “particular” individual is an illusion because its accomplishment presupposes a different reality from what has been shown.
