Abstract

The aim of this text is to analyze the relationship between workers and "platforms" and "applications", as well as the possibilities for their regulation, in the light of the use of new information and communication technologies (ICT). To this end, we present the main elements of the dominant narrative from the “platforms”, contrasting them with the empirical evidence from the actual relationships. Contrary to business rhetoric, these relationships are characterized by an intense exploitation of labour. Technically, it has never been easier to regulate labour law. However, politically, it may never have been so difficult. The narrative about what these companies are plays an important role in promoting this kind of management, even though there are signs of workers' resistance to this process.
