The aim of this study is to present an analysis from different perspectives of the interventions carried out in the text of the medieval Portuguese translation of the Mirror of the Cross of the alcobacensis codex 221 of the National Library of Portugal, an ascetic treatise based on the Passion of Christ that treats Jesus and his life as an example to be followed by the faithful. A total of 792 interventions were identified, which were classified into four types in terms of form (addition, cancellation, substitution and change of order), in three types in terms of the relationship between the final form in the cod. alc. 221 and in cod. alc. 89, likely model for alc. 221 (reproduction, reversal and innovation) and in nine relevant types in terms of the motivation of the divergence between the forms in cods. alcs. 89 and 221. The most frequent type of intervention in terms of form is addition; the most frequent types of relationship are reversal and innovation, with similar values; and the most frequent types in terms of the motivation for divergence are copy error in cases of reversal and Lusitanization in cases of innovation.
