PHILOLOGICAL STUDY OF MANUSCRIPTS FROM THE REPUBLICAN MUSEUM CONVENTION OF ITU:
DOCUMENTS, MEMORY AND IDENTITY OF PEOPLE FROM SÃO PAULO
Keywords:
Manuscripts; Republican Museum; São Paulo identity; Cabreúva (SP)Abstract
The article is based on philological work in order to constitute the tradition of texts located in the Republican Museum ‘Convenção de Itu’. In the analysis, the configuration of the museum's collection and its critical fortune are taken into account, so that knowledge about interior society can be expanded, especially about the cities of Cabreúva and Itu (SP). Since the documents deal with the liberation of enslaved people, it is possible to give visibility to groups that did not have access to writing. Thus, addressing the implications of manuscripts as documentary sources and their contributions to the selection of memories, Philology presents ways of understanding the construction of an identity of the people from São Paulo between the 19th and 20th centuries.
