Abstract

The critical edition of a text is a labor that needs a careful research for references that compound a work during its creation process. When defining the object of critical investigation, the editor aims not only to keep the truthfulness of the literary text, as well as, to reduce the gaps created throughout the forgetfulness of many artists by the canon. So, according to this differential source, we meet Júlia Lopes de Almeida’s works. The author, which was born in 1862, let a great literary composition in which it can be found novels, chronicles, short stories, historic-geographical notes. In the first decade of XX century, her name ranked among the great artists at that time, in a way that her texts were largely divulged in newspapers such as O paiz, Gazeta de Notícias e O Jornal do Commercio.
