This article is situated within the field of reflections on education, politics, and religion. Specifically, we seek to analyze the presence of Evangelical influence in public state schools in Campo Grande, a neighborhood in the western zone of Rio de Janeiro, both in its religious aspect and in its political connections to the far right, primarily considering the consequences of its belligerent positions for work with religious diversity. Through the analysis of interviews conducted with History, Philosophy, Sociology, and Religious Education teachers from two of these schools, we propose a reflection on the challenges of promoting education for freedom in a context of political-religious intolerance toward minority beliefs, concluding that this dynamic has helped maintain Jewish-Christian hegemony and exerted moral and behavioral control over students within the scope of state public education.
