Abstract

This article discusses the question of dwelling, based on Heidegger's formulation, following the argument every building has in its essence dwelling. This question, situated in the context of the reconstruction of Germany after World War II, also offers a horizon of question for the current context of cities, notably the situation of Brazilian cities. The question about dwelling enables us to discuss this question as a fundamental trace for thinking about the city, especially illuminated by the reflections of Norberg-Schulz and Pallasmaa. Thus, the philosophical reflection of dwelling has its relevance not only for urban issues, but has consequences on the environmental issue.
