Resumo: O artigo procura analisar o messianismo como forma de
resistência político-social permeada por aspectos místicos herdados da
longa duração histórica. A reflexão contempla a religiosidade camponesa
que persiste no tempo presente. A Romaria da Terra, manifestação mística
que surge no Brasil durante os governos militares (1964-1985) é avaliada
como uma celebração messiânica camponesa que busca rememorar
territórios perdidos à medida que aponta para novos lugares e um tempo de
redenção dos pobres e oprimidos.
THE PILGRIMAGE FOR A NEW TERRITORY
Summary: This article aims to analyze messianism as a form of political and social resistance permeated by mystic aspects inherited from a long historical time. The study reflects about the peasant religiosity that persists in present times. Romaria da Terra, a mystic manifestation that appeared in Brazil during the military government (1964-1985) is considered a messianic peasant celebration which tries to bring about lost territories and, at the same time, it shows new places and the redemption for poor and
oppressed persons.
