GEOTECHNOLOGIES APPLIED IN THE MAPPING OF COVID-19: A METHODOLOGICAL APPROACH IN BELO HORIZONTE-MG

Brazil recorded, in the first half of 2021, the alarming number of more than four hundred thousand deaths by the new coronavirus - Covid-19, and the municipalities of Minas Gerais have been experiencing, after a year of the epidemic, the collapse in the health system. In this scenario, to ensure hospital beds, Belo Horizonte has tightened its isolation measures, affecting several economy sectors. The aim of this study is to understand and analyze the spatial distribution of Covid-19 in the capital of Minas Gerais and the strategies used by the government to control the social isolation of the population. Studies of this nature are justified by the importance of understanding the relationship between health and disease with the geographical space, especially when associated with geotechnologies, supporting the search for solutions. Theoretical-methodological procedures, grounded on information and statistical data from federal, state and municipal public agencies, helped in the survey of the population isolation rate, and in the mapping of the Coronavirus. After data collection, analyzes of the distribution and mapping of cases and deaths in the city were carried out. The results presented showed the areas with the highest incidence in the period, serving as a tool in facing and monitoring the epidemic and in isolation measures.
