This article aims to discuss the poem “Näheres über einen Baum” (“More about a tree”) by Hans Magnus Enzensberger. The poem is part of the collection Kiosk, published in 1995, and belongs to a long tradition interested in the intersection between poetry and nature. For this purpose, the article, firstly, presents a theoretical discussion, recovering some key concepts of ecocriticism. The second part discusses the poem, based on the concepts presented in the theoretical introduction, trying to identify how the formal configuration dialogues with the thematic elements of the poem. In this text, Hans Magnus Enzensberger stages a communicative configuration in which the speaker challenges its interlocutor to observe the complexity that characterizes the existence of the tree that gives the poem its title.
