THE LGBT MOVEMENT GOES GLOBAL:
A HISTORICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS OF ITS INTERNATIONALIZATION
Keywords:
LGBT movement, Democracy, Human Rights, DiscourseAbstract
2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. Considered a milestone for the construction of the LGBT movement, the uprising, however, was not the first and comes from a series of struggles and previous socio-political arrangements. In this sense, using methodological perspectives from the Foucaultian analysis of discourse, the present article analyzes the historical construction of the LGBT movement as a global actor, and its entry into the international human rights regime.
